A New Kind of Tool
When Fujifilm introduced the GFX100RF in early 2025, it wasn’t just another flagship, it was a shift. A 102 MP sensor in a compact, fixed-lens body sounds contradictory, but Fujifilm proved otherwise.
I had the chance to test this new camera in Prague as part of a special Fujifilm x Brack.ch Superfan weekend, and since then, it has been with me across shoots in Zurich, travel stories, and street explorations.

A New Kind of Tool
A lens you don’t choose – but learn to love
The GFX100RF comes with a fixed 35 mm F4 lens—equivalent to 28 mm in full-frame terms. A bold decision, because 28 mm isn’t always flattering or “easy.” But over time, I found it unlocks something deeper.
On the streets
It forces proximity and precision. You can’t hide. You have to engage, observe closely, and trust your instinct.
While traveling
In Prague’s old town or Zurich’s contemporary edges, it captured context, architecture, people, and light—all in one fluid shot.
At events
What surprised me most: it’s amazing for environmental storytelling. At weddings or cultural gatherings, it placed people inside their world—not isolated from it.

What It Gave Me
A few months in—and why I still keep reaching for it
Unreal detail: From city textures to skin tones, the rendering feels physical. It’s not sharpness—it’s presence.
Freedom: With no lens decisions to make, I shoot more intuitively. No bag. No second thoughts.
Reliability: Low light, twilight, fast situations—it performed consistently.
Mood: It made me slow down, look deeper, and compose more purposefully.
Who This Is For
This camera isn’t for everyone.
If you need zooms, interchangeable lenses, or flexible framing—it might feel limiting. But if your photography is grounded in observation, connection, and visual rhythm, the GFX100RF is unlike anything else.
Final Take
It’s more than a camera. It’s a creative partner. For me, it redefined how I work when I’m on the go, telling stories with minimal gear and maximal presence.
If you work in street, travel, events, or artistic documentation, and if you value clarity, context, and emotion—this might be the best tool Fujifilm has ever built.
